The Wolves Den – Tattoos, Laser Removal & Piercings in Melbourne

Fixed Pricing

At The Wolves Den we quote by the piece/session and not by the hour. That way you know exactly what you’re getting for your money, it also allows us to take our time to ensure your tattoo is perfect.

We honour and don’t overload our artists, they may take breaks throughout the session (and you can too) if needed. We will work with you to make it as comfortable as possible, whilst being time-efficient.

If you book a time and date, that means that the artist has set aside time on that specific day for your tattoo, and most likely has no other bookings. If you cut your time short, you will still be expected to pay the same amount, as the artist has booked out their time for you so be sure you can sit for the entire appointment if you opt to book it in.

Deposits, Cancellations and Rescheduling

All deposits are non-refundable and non-transferrable. However, we are happy to reschedule your appointment if required. A minimum of 5 days notice before your booking is required if you need to reschedule your appointment for any reason. Tattoo Touchups

To ensure that you receive the desired result and longevity of your new tattoo,

Tattoo touch-up sessions are sessions that take up to 20 minutes to do and are available for free within 3 months of the tattoo sessions.

If the touch-up is to ‘fix’ something a tattooist has done, it should be done immediately after healing. The Wolves Den will offer one complimentary touch up appointment after initial healing (4-6 weeks) excluding the following scenarios:

  • If it is believed that the tattoo has not healed well due to the body’s natural healing process then touch-up sessions are not free of charge. –  This is why it is important to look after your tattoos properly.
  • Tattoos that were originally free are not offered free touch-ups.
  • The tattoo was in a “high wear” area of your body including but not limited to; head, fingers, hands, feet, toes, palms, knees, ears and elbows.
  • Exemption of a free touch up will also include anyone who no-shows a scheduled touch up appointment or cancels more than 2 times in a row, disregarding the importance of the artist’s time.
  • Damage to the tattoo due to poor aftercare procedures and the use of non-recommended creams and ointments
  • Some cover-ups including tattoo/scar/stretchmarks may require multiple sessions to fully cover the original tattoo. This is charged at an hourly rate and not eligible for a free touch-up.
  • You are wanting to add / change anything from the original design. While we do understand and appreciate that sometimes you may change your mind and want to alter some elements of your tattoo this would fall into the category of a new tattoo and you may be charged the shop minimum
  • Any tattoo that was administered by an artist no longer working at the studio
  • Rework sessions are sessions that add new colour, shades and lines to an older tattoo. These sessions are charged at standard tattooing rates
  • The tattoo is older than 3 months.

For larger scale projects such as sleeve work and back pieces etc – your artist may include your touch up session in your next sitting or wait until the full project is completed and then book in a final pass appointment to assess the tattoo as a whole to ensure consistency. This is not included as a touchup.

All touch ups must be completed by the artist who performed the original tattoo. If for whatever reason you will require an alternate artist to perform the touchup, this will be charged at the standard rate for tattooing.

At any time, you are welcome to contact the studio to enquire about touch up appointments. Even if your request falls outside of the above terms and conditions for your complimentary session, we are happy to rework or touch up any tattoo and will be able to advise the cost involved to do so.

Cover Ups and Reworks

There are basically two varieties of tattoo cover ups.

One type is defined as reworking a terribly done tattoo. The artist takes the current design and embellishes it with better collections and color work and turns a great ugly and inadequately done tattoo into a good one.

The other style of cover up fundamentally eradicates the old design by disguising and addressing it up with a new design.

A cover-up is an entirely different type of tattoo than the tattoo on blank skin. Some concepts work in addressing up tattoos, nevertheless most don’t.

Doing a good cover up or rework is not easy. On many cover-ups you are able to still see a little hint of the old tattoo behind the brand new one. That is actually normal. Some cover-ups are usually over very darker or heavily scarred body art. There is nothing that you can do for the texture of the scarring in the old tattoo however the old tattoo pattern won’t be legible.

The purpose of a coverup is to distort and distract the eye away from the former, it cannot always be possible to fully cover and is at the risk of the client.

There are a few important things you need to understand if you want to get a good cover-up so that the new tattoo seems as if a good tattoo but not like a cover-up.

  • Not all artists offer cover-ups or reworks, we do however have a wide array of artists who do offer them.
  • In some cases, a few sessions of laser tattoo removal will be advised first, in order to fade the tattoo and ensure the optimal base for your cover up.
  • We will do the best job possible to effectively cover the tattoo for you however at times darker tattoos or scarring/flared up tattoos can be seen through.
  • A cover-up will almost always have to be larger than the original tattoo; so keep that in mind when picking out references.
  • Not all images are able to be covered and may need to be designed going in another direction than what you originally had in mind. Being flexible always works best when it comes to cover-ups.
  • The new tattoo design must be larger than the old tattoo and the design must be a solid design with plenty of coverage. You won’t be capable of have negative (blank) spaces within the tattoo.
  • A tattoo body artist specialises in working with a blank canvas, offering you  a cover-up is fixing someone else’s work and can be quite tricky and may require multiple sessions to fully cover the original tattoo.
  • Any required touchup sessions are always charged at a fixed price determined by the artist.

Tattooing over scar & stretch marks

  • It does however depend on the severity and maturity of your scar. This is judged on a case by case basis. In general, a scar should be at least one or two years old and no longer be a reddish/pinkish color.
  • If you were looking to have a scar cover up please send in a photo of the scar as well as what you were looking to cover it up with so we can book you in for a consultation to better assist you.
  • Scar cover-ups are accepted at the discretion of the artist.

Here at The Wolves Den, we take pride in providing the absolute best customer experience, if in doubt, before proceeding please give us a call and have a chat with one of our body art specialists who would be more than happy to assist.
